What does the Commission on Community and Family Services do?

We advise the Mayor and City Council on issues related to poverty, and the needs of families, children, and youth in order to build stronger and more resilient communities.

Through our work, we provide guidance on how the Community Investment for Families Department (CIFD) implements the Community Development Block Grant Program and other funding initiatives; ensures the community provides input to housing development plans; facilitates an efficient social services delivery system in coordination with government, nonprofit agencies and other stakeholders that help communities out of poverty; and administers policy recommendations.
