City has approximately 10,000 applicants since program launch on September 19

Eligible Angelenos applying for emergency rental assistance can now receive in-person assistance through the FamilySource System, a network of 15 centers throughout the City ensuring all families have access to rent relief.

The City of Los Angeles’ Community Investment for Families Department (CIFD) manages the sites, and is providing an additional hub for tenants pursuing the United To House Los Angeles (ULA) Emergency Renters Assistance Program, which opened on September 19 and will remain open through October 2.

Applicants may visit housing.lacity.org to apply online 24/7 or call the Los Angeles Housing Department Hotline (888) 379-3150 Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The FamilySource Center locations provide families with a local in-person option that allows them to receive step-by-step guidance through the process.

“Our FamilySource System is helping to ensure more communities can take full advantage of this opportunity, and families are not deterred by barriers of technology or access,” said Abigail Marquez, CIFD General Manager.

“We applaud the Mayor, City Council, and the Los Angeles Housing Department for their critical support for Angelenos experiencing financial distress, and we’re proud to collaborate in the efforts.”

The Emergency Renters Assistance Program was approved by City Council and signed by the Mayor earlier this year as part of continued efforts to reduce the amount of evictions in Los Angeles. The program will pay landlords up to 6 months of unpaid rent on behalf of tenants who have experienced financial hardship.

"FamilySource Centers are an excellent resource for Angelenos to avail themselves of information regarding the short term rental assistance program,” said Ann Sewill, General Manager of the Los Angeles Housing Department. “We are grateful for the services they provide to Angelenos and appreciate their coordination to assist in-person applicants."

About Community Investment For Families Department FamilySource Centers

FamilySource Centers (FSCs) are one of CIFD’s critical programs, and offer comprehensive services to children and families while providing social, educational, work, and family support and resources. From food distributions, to wellness and financial workshops, FSCs help families find the resources to increase income, establish financial security, and build academic success. The FSC program recently received a budget increase and will be expanded to 20 centers across the City next year, increasing the number of low-income people served to 50,000 children and families. FamilySource Centers are designed to assist low income families. However, anyone who lives in the City of Los Angeles and meets a household income requirement is eligible for assistance. Learn more and find an FSC near you.
