Nearly 30 participants of the Basic Income Guaranteed: Los Angeles Economic Assistance Pilot gathered some eight months after receiving their final payments to share their successes, challenges, and future concerns following the Guaranteed Income program.
Participants of the program received their final monthly payment of $1,000 from the year-long program on March 25 and discussed life following the program and what they would like to see in a future GI initiative.
BIG:LEAP served more than 3,200 individuals and distributed more than $38.4 million in unrestricted financial assistance. Following the program, participants are connected to resources and referred to FamilySource Centers (FSCs) and community partners for services, including financial coaching.
